Our mission

Striving to create a learning environment that empowers every student by providing engaging academic programs and positive social experiences for all

Our history

Fall 1990: Voters approve a $45 million bond for construction that includes Alki Middle School. The construction marks a new era for the district. All new schools have advanced technology.

Fall 1992: Alki Middle School opens its doors.

December 1995: Astronaut Cady Coleman visits Discovery and Alki middle schools.

September 2004: Alki helps to pilot the districtwide recycling and composting program.

October 2008: Katie Hebner, a choir teacher at both Thomas Jefferson and Alki middle schools, is one of nine teachers honored at Washington’s 2009 Teacher of the Year ceremony. She also is the Regional Teacher of the Year for ESD 112.

Fall 2009: Nine schools, including Alki, receive Energy Star Awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy.
